This works like a charm in 9.20 and 7.31: Informix Dynamic Server 2000 Version 9.20.UC2 Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UC2 It does not work at all with 5.10 (no DBINFO function at all). I don't have a 7.2x (or 7.30 or 8.x) server readily available to find out when it was introduced. However, it does answer my question -- how do you find the version information for a remote database server reliably. Thanks, Coleman. I will probably end up using this in DBD::Informix to find the server version, at least as a first attempt, falling back on the Owner column of the ' VERSION' table only when DBINFO('version', 'full') fails. >We have a dual table in our database for constant >queries like this, so we could also use: > >select DBINFO('version','full') >from dual > >Hope this helps. >Coleman > >"Thierry Achaintre" <thierry.achaintre@euriware.fr> wrote: >> Can someone tell me how can I do to determine which version and >> release of Informix is running on an AIX box ? -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.95 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "Windows is NOT a virus: a virus is small and efficient."
