I'd thought about using HSM, but I need to get to the data on a random basis, and I don't want to write the programs to gather the data into files for migration (and more programs for going the other way). What I'm thinking of doing is buying more disk space, duplicating the database schema, and moving only 'old' data into it. The question is: can I access both new and old data from *both* databases in the *same* query by prepending the dbname to the tables in my queries/reports? Any thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated - PS. I'll be migrating this DB to version 7.2 before developing the archiving schema. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Herb Blacker Cimarron, Inc.
