Reto The simplest way to do this would be to create a user with CONNECT database priviledge, then revoke all table level priviledges except SELECT. You will probably need to script the priviledges if you have a significant number of tables in the database. If you want to have more than 1 such user, you could set up a ROLE with the above priviledges, then have the user SET ROLE TO this role. Hi all, I'm new to informix and would like to know, if there is a simple way to access a Informix DB with READ ONLY priviliges. What we would like to to is, setting up an account which has only READ permissons to the DB. Does anyone know if this is supportet by Informix? How long does it take to install (is it just defining a new user and setting up the DB-Rights)? Or do I have to define separtly VIEW's with read only access? Any comments to my questions are welcome!! Regards Reto Loser Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Don't forget that if user PUBLIC has modify permissions on a table, so do you. Also, you have to explicitly set a role; the default connect state must also be safe in case the user does not set the read-only role. > Reto.Loser@checkit.ch on 10/11/2000 12:49:21 AM >> I'm new to informix and would like to know, if there is a simple way to >> access a Informix DB with READ ONLY priviliges.
