Just write a HERE-script to fake the required input of tbtape: ## Begin of HERE script tbtape -s << ENDE 0 ENDE ## End of HERE script You MUST include the empty line, it is the <RETURN> that tbtape expects after the "Please mount tape..." message. The "0" is the required backup level, you can, of course, substitute 1 or 2 for it if that's the level you want. For reliable unattended backups, you have to make sure that the correct tape is inserted in the drive. If your script is run by cron, you also have to take care of the correct environment (TBCONFIG etc.).
