I didn't know that AT&T had sold any of those platforms hardware AND OS to anybody but the feds (that's me). And you have SE 4. And you have corrupted indices. Deja vu all over again. } } Problem: Cannot 'update statistics' on the database bec. of corrupted } system/database table(s). } } Error: Cannot create sysindexes } } Method to 'update statistics': } isql } (Q)uery Language } (D)atabase } type 'update statistics' } press ESCape } (R)un } } Error message at bottom of screen: 'Cannot create sysindexes for } d10____176'. } } Steps made: } } a 1. I went to the [database].dbs directory. } 2. Did an ls on the directory } 3. Didn't find the d10____176.idx and d10____176.dat files } 4. Found the d10___212.idx and d10____212.dat files } I've been here. Somehow, Informix has gotten well and truly hosed. It's fallen and can't get up, etc. We tried the unload the table, drop the table, recreate the table (and its indices), load the table. Unfortunately for us, it was not successful. It seems that Informix is keeping some of its toys to itself and doesn't want anybody else to play with them. Fortunately, we did have enough room to completely unload the database, etc. If it's any consolation, it only happened on our development box. None of our production machines (> 200) have had the problem (knock on wood, some of THOSE have REALLY BIG databases). So, I will be interested in finding out if there is a way to fix the table. BTW, we also tried bcheck and CHECK TABLE. Received the same error message from both, UNKNOWN ERROR MESSAGE -16,000. Good luck. } Possible solution: } } 1. Unload d10 to flat file; Drop d10; reload d10; recreate indexes on } d10. } 2. Unload all database files; Drop database; Recreate database; } Recreate tables; Load data (I don't like this as there are *LOT* of } tables and we don't have the disk space) } 3. Delete some rows in sysindexes (Kludge but I really don't want to } do this bec. I'm not sure how it is formatted or if I still have } to remove some records in other sys-tables) } } So my question is, can you suggest a way that can restore the integrity } of the database without taking up much time? } } THANKS! } } John } } -- } John Fontanilla | Work: (203) 790-9921 AOH: (203) 350-3841 } Transportation Data |E-mail: john@gagme.wwa.com,john@gaboon.newnet.com } 100 Mill Plain Rd. | Views expressed does not reflect that of my employers. } Danbury, CT 08611 | Maligayang bati sa inyo!!! :) } ========================================================================== == George Teachman == == Soil Scientist == == United States Department of Agriculture - Soil Conservation Service == == Fort Collins, Colorado == == 303-282-1960 == == == == george@talon.ftc.scs.ag.gov == == ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ == == Welcome to earth, third rock from the sun.
