Accessing Informix through ODBC

I am inserting rows into an Informix table which has a serial column from a client program which is accessing the Informix DB thru a ODBC driver (Q+E). After the insert operation, how do I get the serial number that was generated without giving an SQL to get the max of the serial column. How do I get access to the entire SQLCA if connecting to the DB thru a ODBC Driver? Any suggestions?
