Re: Performance problems with INFORMIX-SE 7.10.UD1

This is exactly why version 6.0x of I4GL was introduced! Using the Relay Module (RM) interposes an extra (largely unwanted) process into the connection, and this makes the performance poor compared with the native 6.0x connection. 4.1x I4GL talking to 6.0x or later OnLine: +-------------+ +--------------+ +-------------------------+ | Application |--->| Relay Module |--->| OnLine DSA Server Thread| +-------------+ +--------------+ +-------------------------+ 6.0x I4GL talking to 6.0x or later OnLine: +-------------+ +-------------------------+ | Application |----------------------->| OnLine DSA Server Thread| +-------------+ +-------------------------+ The new 6.0x connectivity provides better performance and allows many applications to connect to a single server (a single DSA server may run many user (application) threads). Using the RM should only ever be a transition measure, because not only does the RM have to talk to the server using the same protocol as 6.0x I4GL does, but it also has to talk to the application using the pre-6 protocol, which uses two pipes connecting two processes. The RM provides almost transparent access for old applications, but 'almost' excludes the environment variable SQLEXEC and the performance. To upgrade the performance, use 6.0x I4GL!
