Martin: My ignorance of future versions is showing. Thank you for the information. I always thought it was 3rd party like the ONBAR uses a 3rd party package. That's why we don't use ONBAR for our backups (even though it would make my life easier for table management - I understand that ONBAR can restore a single table or dbspace, ONTAPE can't). Thanks. Hi, archecker is not a "3rd party package". It has been developed by Informix (IBM) internal resources. First it was not officially delivered and supported in the product package, but it is in more recent versions of IDS. In fact "onbar -v" itself uses the archecker utility for backup verification. 7.23.x is indeed very old. I'm not sure there's an archecker version around to properly work with that version of IDS. Certainly, for the task at hand it would be the tool of choice.
