Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Nijntje asked what causes an RPC server unavailable error, giving no detail. Obnoxio The Clown and Alex Bernaards mocked the lack of information. Falco guessed a misconfigured NT DNS server and asked for system details. kizersozah suggested checking whether the spooler service is started. The error is not clearly tied to Informix, and no outcome was reported.

Hey.
Sounds like a typical error when trying to get an NT-box to act like a DNS
for a local net.
If I'm totally out in the fields now, don't read any more.......
I've seen this message once ( or twice ) on machines ( NT ) where someone
have tried to configure
a DNS-server giving wrong ip-numbers in dnsadmin.exe. Or have not configured
it at all.
I don't put up a lot of things to do or check here, after all I don't even
know if you're running NT, or if it's something
completely different.
You could get some faster ( and more exact ) answers if you added a little
bit of information about the systems you're
having problems with. Ie. hardware, OS, special programs and so on.

Nijntje,
See if your spooler service is started. This often causes the "RPC
server is unavailable" message.
And ignore loser below....
