Re: NT-Linux

The best way to convince your boss is to find out what he/she perceives as the benefits being gained by moving to NT and showing Linux's strengths in that area. Also find out what the objections to Linux are. If your boss is open-minded you shouldn't have any trouble justifying a move to Linux. If your boss is the type to stay the course once his/her mind is made up.... my condolences. Frankly, the only reason I could think of for moving to NT for this is if you were converting everything to SQL Server, but why would you want to do that???? --- Dahms Markus <Markus.Dahms@bfd-r.bayern.de> > wrote: >Hi Informix-Gurus, > >this is my first contribution in this newsgroup, which I feel as good. >our applications are developed at present with Informix-4GL (4GL 7.20UD3) on >the >operating system SINIX-Z 5.42 (Siemens specific). >now is an operating system change and transferred to Dynamic-4GL >planned(D4GL 3.01.tc1, IDS2000 intel 9.21tc1). >as new operating system I would favor Suse Linux 7,0, but my boss >wants to absolutely transfer to NT. >the question is now whether there are comparable applications or >instruction under NT: > >a list generator, which can represent rectangles, hatchings and grey >lines (so far DALLY of the soft print GmbH) > >printer pool, where form length, form width, character width, line >space, adjustment, section printout is possible (so far xpadd Spool of >Siemens > >files to other email recipients send (so far mailx) > >as I can convince mine boss that Linux would be the better version. >sorry for my bad english. > >Thanxs >Best regards > >Markus >(Markus.Dahms@bfd-r.bayern.de) == "Outlook not so good." That magic 8-ball knows everything! I'll ask about Exchange Server next. _____________________________________________________________ Want a new web-based email account ? ---> http://www.firstlinux.net
