Jason,
I think that this 22 is error from open or read system call (or whatever
this is called on NT). On UNIX, error 22 means "invalid argument", and
NT kept most of same errno numbers (see errno.h in your C SDK inclusde
directories). On tape drives this often means improper density seting,
block size etc.
This is just a guess, but I try and rule the problem with tape out
first. You could write a little program to read a tape (something like
UNIX od), and see what happens.
