If you want to upload an excel file or load an excel file from informix I would take a look at a third party replication, conversion and transfer tool called SQLMover. To define a DB in Excel - simply mark the area you want to make accessible via ODBC and go to the name box and give it a name. Then use the Excel ODBC driver that you can download from www.sqlmover.com. This way, using SQLMover you can pull information from Excel and push (INSERT) as well. SQL also works with SQL Server, dBase, FoxPro, DB2, Oracle, Informix, Progess and many more via ODBC. The tool can be installed on a NT server or a WS or Win 95 and initiated manually or automatically. It uses standard, simple or complex SQL Select statement in one end and a INSERT, UPDATE, INSERT then UPDATE, UPDATE the INSERT or DELETE statement towards the destination database table. Data conversion can be performed by using the SQL convert option, by using the built in Format Mask functions or by using triggers in the destination database. It has transaction control and extensive logging facilities. You can also design consistent replication tasks using the built-in features and triggers (only in full fledged rdbmss). To evaluate until Sept. 30 you can download from www.sqlmover.com (follow the download buttons) and use the evaluation key CYUEJSMP. The key allows you to transfer max. 500 rows per transfer/replication task and max. 5 tasks can be defined. Peder Holst, ElektroSoft AB pederh@elektrosoft.se
