I can work magic with vi, "....and notice that my fingers never leave my hands." (or the keyboard). > >>Letting >>dumb end users have a good database at a reasonable price. Remember, the "dumb end user" >definition >disallows the use of this OS. =) Regardless of how easy WE think it is. I've supported lots of dumb users in a UNIX environment. I've supported dumb users in a Windows environment. I like the one where they can break fewer things. >Though it is cheaper. But anything free is worth the price you pay for it >(Which makes me wonder why Microsoft doesn't pay you to own NT). I'd have to say Linux is worth far more than I've paid for it (yeah, I bought it rather than downloading it since it takes less time to drive across town and back than my rubber-bandwidth connection can download a distro -- and you get a nifty book and bumpersticker with RedHat! Not to mention the CD for ease of installation on multiple machines.) and far more than I paid for Windows in the past. Everyone in my family has their own login and can't mess up my environment. At work we use Informix on AIX boxes. Users access the database from Windows. Sometimes we have to fix something in Informix that they mess up. There is a whole group of people to fix something in Windows that they mess up. Since I've been here I can't recall a single time we've had to fix something in AIX they've messed up (aside from restoring a deleted file from time to time, but even that didn't have an adverse effect on the OS, just user data). == Maintainer of the procrastinator's FAQ. Well, maybe tomorrow I will be. _____________________________________________________________ Want a new web-based email account ? ---> http://www.firstlinux.net
