Re: HOW: Export Ifmx DB -- Use DB offline -- resync db Online ???

I'm not sure I understand what your clients are trying to accomplish, but
maybe I can suggest a few options and you can peruse the ones you feel are
closest to what they are trying to work with. I'm assuming they are using
IDS:
1. Your client can just archive the instance ( using ontape or onbar ), take
the archive tapes home, restore the instance at home, work, archive the
instance at home and restore the instance when they return to work the next
day.
2. Your clients could unload the tables they need to work on, load them at
home, work, unload the changes they made at home, and load them when they
return to work.
3. They can do the same basic thing as option #2 above, but use the onunload
utility.
4. They can do the same basic thing as option #2 above, but use the dbexport
/ dbimport utility.
5. Your client can make two instances ( a work instance and a home instance
), make a network connection between the instance, and then construct an
enterprise replication ( ER ) relationship between the two instance. In this
way the tables can be updated from two sources. Careful . . . this requires
a lot of work.
Hope this helps.
