It looks like you have ~2800 dirty buffers, of which ~400+ are not flushed during the checkpoint (fuzzy). Flushing ~2400 buffers should not take 10+ seconds, so you need to find where the delay is. Try setting the environment variable TRACEFUZZYCKPT=1 before bringing the engine online. When you do this, you will see some timings in the online.log in regards to different portions of the checkpoint. Once you've done this post this information and this should give us a better idea where the delay is. Also, shameless plug for v11. In Version 11, fuzzy checkpoints have been removed completely, and the checkpoints are what is referred to as non-blocking checkpoints. IE, there is no blocking during the flushing of the buffers in version 11. Darin
