Using Substring Function
I am having problems using the substring statements using
INFORMIX 7.3 Dymanic Online Server, and the SQL Editor.
I have used the syntax out of the the Informix Guide to SQL and
get errors.
SELECT sname, SUBSTRING(sname FROM 1 FOR 4)
FROM state
WHERE code = "AZ";
Upon execution I recieve the following error:
[Informix][Online Dynamic Server][cselv2] SQL Error [-201]:
a syntax error has occured
Note the word FROM was highlighted
SELECT sname, SUBSTR(sname, 1, 4)
FROM state
WHERE code = "AZ";
Upon execution I recieve the following error:
[Informix][Online Dynamic Server][cselv2] SQL Error (-674):
Procedure (substr) not found. [ISAM error -111: ISAM error: no
record found.]
Does anyone know why I am having these problems ?
