Differentiate OLTP&OLAP from 1 Application Server

Hello Everyone, I need some valuable information regarding the below scenario. At present we are having one Application server using for OLTP as well as OLAP. lets say it as app_serv. We have one dedicated standalone IDS database server which connects application server (app_serv) though DataSource link. Now we implemented High Availability(HDR) in our database production environment. lets say primary and secondary database. So from now how to differentiate OLTP and OLAP from existing app_sever to primary and secondary respectively. Is it possible to make OLAP and OLTP from one application server and redirect to respective databases (primary and secondary). If not what is the possible way. Waiting for your responses as early as possible.
Without understanding how your application server works: why not just use SET CONNECTION before and after each OLAP query? > On 6 Jul 2017, at 13:57, MUKESH TANUKU <mukeshbt1328@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > I need some valuable information regarding the below scenario. > > At present we are having one Application server using for OLTP as well as > OLAP. lets say it as app_serv. > > We have one dedicated standalone IDS database server which connects > application server (app_serv) though DataSource link. > > Now we implemented High Availability(HDR) in our database production > environment. lets say primary and secondary database. > > So from now how to differentiate OLTP and OLAP from existing app_sever to > primary and secondary respectively. > > Is it possible to make OLAP and OLTP from one application server and redirect > to respective databases (primary and secondary). As Spokey said, keep two connections in each thread, one for OLAP going to tbe secondary and one for OLTP going to the primary. Switch as needed. That's ok fine. I will pass separate data source links to application if i have not used the connection manager But I want to use Connection Manager to both database servers for automatic failover. we need to create a cluster group for both database servers and supply the cluster group name as a INFORMIXSERVER environment variable. Now I have my INFORMIXSERVER set to cluster group name. Application server ------->Connection manager--------> both database servers. Can we use SET CONNECTION now?
Create two SLAs in Connection Manager, one for OLTP that lists PRI first and HDR as failover and the other for OLAP with HDR first and PRI as failover. Apps open one connection to each SLA. Under normal processing one will go to the primary and the other to the secondary. If one or the other crashes or is shut down then both will go to the remaining server. Obviously only one of these SLAs will control server failover. Art Art S.
