Can someone provide some advice please? I have an Informix database defined with en_US.819. I want to accept JDBC client connections that use UTF-8 but translate special characters on the way through. For example if the client connection sends an endash character I am quite happy that in my DB is simply replaced with a space. Is this possible? If so, is this simply a case of adding CLIENT_LOCALE and DB_LOCALE to the connection string? (CLIENT_LOCALE=en_us.utf8;DB_LOCALE=en_us.819) (I tried this but got "code-set conversion function failed due to illegal sequence or invalid value"). Is it possible that all I am missing is conversion tables in $INFORMIXDIR/gls? (glfiles -lc does appear to have a table for utf8). Ray
