Assuming you want to move your existing chunks to new physical disks, and you have used symbolic links for your chunk path names, Informix Mirroring is Your Friend.
IDS 9.40 on windows 2000. so we haven't symbolic links, and we have to move chunk from d:\\ifmxdata to c:\\ifmxdata "Neil Truby" <neil.truby@ardenta.com> a 'crit dans le message de news:c33q55$22doip$1@ID-162943.news.uni-berlin.de... > "Xavier" <xavier1968fr@yahoo.com> wrote in message > news:c33pbr$1mnm$1@biggoron.nerim.net... > > hi, > > > > we have to move location of all chunks (root, tmp, data,...), how can i do > > that ? > > > > thanks > > Can you be more specific? > Assuming you want to move your existing chunks to new physical disks, and > you have used symbolic links for your chunk path names, Informix Mirroring > is Your Friend. > >
You can have links under W2K they are just fiddley. If the problem is the C drive is filling and you need to move things around then you don't have to move the database, you could boot from the d drive. As Neil says you could do this using mirroring but you'll end up with a set of broken mirrors at the end of the exercise, half of the old c drive and the working half on D Depending on the size of the database I'd probably take the pain, re-lay the database using links on the D drive and import/export Cheers Paul Xavier wrote: > > IDS 9.40 on windows 2000. > > so we haven't symbolic links, and we have to move chunk from d:\\ifmxdata to > c:\\ifmxdata > > "Neil Truby" <neil.truby@ardenta.com> a 'crit dans le message de > news:c33q55$22doip$1@ID-162943.news.uni-berlin.de... > > "Xavier" <xavier1968fr@yahoo.com> wrote in message > > news:c33pbr$1mnm$1@biggoron.nerim.net... > > > hi, > > > > > > we have to move location of all chunks (root, tmp, data,...), how can i > do > > > that ? > > > > > > thanks > > > > Can you be more specific? > > Assuming you want to move your existing chunks to new physical disks, and > > you have used symbolic links for your chunk path names, Informix Mirroring > > is Your Friend. > > > > -- Paul Watson # Oninit Ltd # Growing old is mandatory Tel: +44 1436 672201 # Growing up is optional Fax: +44 1436 678693 # Mob: +44 7818 003457 # www.oninit.com #
