which informix instance is down..?

Hello Admins,
We have multiple informix instance running in the same system. If one
of the informix instance is down, it becomes bit difficult to see which
onconfig is not up because if you see ps -ef | grep oninit , you see
only the number of oninit process and you do not see the name of the
onconfig associatd with that.ie,
informix 22299 22298 0 17:24:19 ? 0:18 oninit -v
informix 22305 22298 0 17:24:25 ? 2:57 oninit -v
informix 22303 22298 0 17:24:22 ? 0:03 oninit -v
informix 22304 22298 0 17:24:23 ? 0:49 oninit -v
informix 22300 22298 0 17:24:19 ? 0:04 oninit -v
informix 22298 1 0 17:24:18 ? 18:25 oninit -v
informix 22301 22298 0 17:24:20 ? 0:05 oninit -v
informix 22302 22298 0 17:24:21 ? 0:58 oninit -v
So you need to set ONCONFIG and INFORMIXSERVER parameter and see which
instance is down.
I remember in Oracle you have the instance name also associated with
the process.
Is there any way we can do it in informix also so that just by looking
at the ps -ef output you know which onconfig is down.
Thanks for you help
Regards
Mike

This seems to be the only way to find out which instance is running.

Informix is multithreaded RDBMS. So, you can not see client processes
on the OS level. All you can see is virtual processors - client
processes are bound to them, and are invisible at the OS level. Oracle
has multithreaded option, but without it, every Oracle client
connection is OS process, and as you mentioned above, you can see to
which db your client is bound. Maybe you know everything that - I'm
just remind.

Looks like there is no way to find out which instance is down at the OS
level. Or I'm wrong ?
