That means that you cannot directly replace the SE database system with another company's database -- at the very least, you'd have to convert your programs to match the other database. On the other hand, if you simply want to replace the current SE on SCO with, say, OnLine on HP-UX, then the change is simple. The programs do not even need to be recompiled; you simply have to set DBPATH to point to the new location of the database.
