In all that time, I *never* had an unrecoverable error. I had plenty of backwater clients who needed firm guidance on where the on/off switch was. I had plenty of rural clients who had endless shit with their power supplies. The worst thing that ever happened to me was after some catastrophic PEBCAK problem, that I might have to run bcheck -y twice. All these small users loved the cost effective, easy solution of SE (with 4GL). SE *has* transaction logging. It's not great, but it's there. I know *very* *large* cellular companies who used (and probably still use) SE for the zillions of transactions *they* record. (I don't agree with them, I think it's a false economy, but there you go.) *They* weren't worried about all these things you keep harping on about, and we're talking about _tens_of_millions_ of dollars a month here. SE isn't perfect, but in a low-volume, departmental role where the cost of a DBA can't be justified, it's a brilliant solution. I'm tired of people slagging it off. It's not the pile of junk you keep making it out to be. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
