Ontape on secondary server

We have a HDR replication between two IBM RS6000 server running AIX 4.3.2. The server version is IDS 7.30. When I log on as user informix and run ontape -s on the secondary server I get the following error message:- "server is in a incompatible state or user authentication failed" Just for information sake, there wasn't any other user connected to the server, though it may be nothing to do with the above error message.
