Is there a one byte signed integer variable type in Informix SQL? I've read several of the informix manuals and can't seem to find one. I see there is INT and SMALLINT only. TIA Carlos San Miguel

No - SMALLINT (2 bytes) is the smallest pure integer type. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
Theoretically, couldn't someone write a UDT of their own to implement a one byte signed INTEGER? And if they thought other people might find it useful they could post it on the IIUG site? Yes - a UDT could be written. It might be an interesting exercise to do so, especially considering the number of implicit conversions that might be needed. > Jonathan Leffler <jleffler@earthlink.net> wrote: >>Carlos San Miguel wrote: >>>Is there a one byte signed integer variable type in Informix SQL? >>>[...] I see there is INT and SMALLINT only. >> >>No - SMALLINT (2 bytes) is the smallest pure integer type. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
