Best solution for replication/mirroring

Hi I have an HP Machine with 1Gb RAM, 9Gb internal disks and an external device with other 30Gb in multiple hard disks. Note: We have this configuration in double, (2 machines) and we are expecting to use IDS replication or mirroring. Which is the best solution ?? We want to have a backup machine in case of crash in the master one, and it must be updated the same time the master is updated. I've heard about replication, but doesn't it use too much machine resources ?? And what about mirroring ??? Please, I'd like some suggestions of solutions to this problem.
