KAIO and HPUX process aging
Posted in 1999
IDS: 7.30.UC7 OS: HPUX 10.20 We've recenly migrated to the IDS 7.30 platform. I'm revisiting a few goodies that I haven't had for a while, most notably, KAIO. I have it enabled on my test system and disabled on my production system. So far, I haven't noticed any great performance increase, but then, I haven't experienced the great performance hit that we had when we upgraded from 7.23.uc4 to 7.23.uc11. Then the thought occurred to me. Even if I didn't notice a large performance increase, it might still be to my advantage to enable KAIO anyway, as then there will be fewer UNIX processes to age or clutter the process list. We're running 50 chunks on 29 dbspaces. Is there any merit to this line of thought, or have I been sitting in front of a UNIX prompt too long? TIA John Carlson Informix DBA WHSmith USA
