Processor Affinity prob on 2cpu SparcServer

hi, i've recently found a bug in the 7.1X online server, and want to know if anyone else has run across this. it has been listed as a bug with support, but i don't know what kind of time frame to expect a fix here. on the sparcserver 20, there are two slots for cpus. you can either have a double-wide (2 cpus) card, or a single-wide (1 cpu) card. the cpu(s) in slot 0 are numbered 0 (and 1) by the system. the cpu(s) in slot 1 are numbered 2 (and 3). so with 2 single-wide cards, you have cpu's 0 and 2. the online software sees that there are two cpus, looks for cpu 0, ok, then looks for cpu 1, and doesn't find it, and so decides there is only 1 cpu in the system. this of course means that you can't bind a cpuvp to the second processor. from the sounds of things, i'm not so sure that this is so important anyway, as there doesn't seem to be any significant difference until you get to 4 cpus. none the less, i would like to have the problem fixed. anyone else have this problem? mickm -- _____________________________________________________________________________ Mickey Mestel mickm@netcom.com -on a beach in thailand to a beautiful, stoned, norwegian woman: "..yeah, it's just another foreign country without ice." -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
