that seems to be true. if you are using kaio, you only need a few
aiovps. the kaio's do asynchronous i/o through the kernel, so can submit i/o
requests but don't have to wait around for them to complete. so in this case,
the kaio's can handle a huge quantity of i/o requests.

we have 7.11 under solaris 2.4 on a sparcsever 20, and it just kicked
right in. i didn't have to do anything special to get the kaio vp's running.
onstat will show you the kaio threads, vp's etc... i would talk to
informix if they don't appear to be running, because, as is said, we didn't
have to do anything to get them going.
