That's why you use LVM to partition the disk and create your dbspaces/chunks. Just go through SAM/SMIT/whatever tool your OS uses, like you are creating a filesystem. Just don't mount it. Create a logical link to that filesystem and reference the logical link in Informix. Volia. But you need to pay attention to what David wrote. You need to leave what 2k,4K as an offset to allow for the OS to control that diskspace.
