Checkpoint Duration....ODS 7.24...
Posted in 1998
Does anyone have suggestions regarding the following: An application which accepts arguments from a user then formulates an sql query and queries the database reporting back to screen or print, heavily utilizes temp tables. One particular temp table is built to accept the largest possible number of arguments and builds a table with a rowsize of 5040 bytes. What is happening is that temp space is exceeded causing the application to abort or flushing at checkpoint time causes what are normally 0-1 second checkpoints to become up to 731 seconds. The temp table is not being logged. From a DBA perspective, how can the environment be tuned to handle this sort of processing yet decrease the checkpoint duration to minimize the performance impact currently being experienced at the times when this application is running? Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Carleen Avant Naval Safety Center Internet < cavant@safecen.navy.mil > COM (757)444-3520 DSN 564-3520 ext 7050
