Turbo sizing prog
Posted in 1991
Hi. I've got an I-4GL program which purports to figure out the amount of raw disk required by a Turbo database, by looking up the table and index column lengths and adding the overhead figures. Unfortunately, I haven't got quite enough time [or knowledge !] to check it rigorously. It's from an original idea by one of Informix's SE's, but it doesn't use the same code. (mine, all mine, and ugly with it) I'd like someone (lots of people ?) to have a look at it for me, since someone else must need to do sizing and it should save them some work. Also, tips for converting the thing to do Online sizing (e.g., 16 index columns, varchars, text and blob stuff ...) would come in handy. You could even hack the code and mail me it back ... 8^) If anyone'd like to mail me, I'd be delighted to send a copy. Cheers - Tony PS.
