A cron job kicks in overnight, throws off any users who can't sleep and does the work. Old log files are renamed with a unique name (includes the date) and a new log file (with the correct permissions) created. Log files older than a week are thrown away. Shouldn't Informix be providing a shell script to manage this for SE administrators as it seems to crop up quite often? -- Peter Lancashire Information Systems Specialist, Bayer plc Eastern Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7AH, UK Tel: +44-1635-562258, Fax: +44-1635-562281 --- If all else fails, read the instructions AND the release notes.
