THIS IS A MUST.... You must have a different SERVERNUM variable in the onconfig file. If your first instance has SERVERNUM 0, then set your second instance SERVERNUM 1. (that's the number one). In the onconfig file, you specify the LTAPEDEV and TAPEDEV variables and these can be shared between instances. Just don't run the backups at the same time. Also, if you have continuous logging, you must have seperate tape drive to handle logical logs. My opinion.... It is always best to bring down the first instance before initializing a new (seconda) instance. Untill it comes up o.k., then you can bring up the first instance. Tim Jones
