Several years ago, we gave up on HP terminals and terminal emulations for just this reason. Seems that when you write text with some enhancement (bold/blink/underline/inverse), the enhancement remains in that position on the screen until the entire line is either redrawn or deleted. Period. End of discussion. We checked with HP back in 1988 on this issue and they said that there is no way around it. Many HP terminals were originally designed for block mode operation in which the entire screen was painted, enhancements and all, the user did input in specific fields and then sent the entire screen to an HP3000 for processing. The screen was then erased, and the next screen was painted. There was no concept of light-bar menus or of moving highlights. Hope this helps and that you find the info to be accurate. --Glen -- Glen Gordon | Internet: ggordon@agsm.ucla.edu Computing Services | Bitnet : ggordon@uclagsm.bitnet Anderson Graduate School of Management | AT&Tnet : (310) 206-6590 University of California, Los Angeles | Fax : (310) 206-2002
