Re: Secure Environment - Kerberos

First, I'd be cautious using kerberos. Had mixed experiences with it on an SP2. Second, what does rsh have to do with your databases talking to one another? Usually, using a TCP/IP connection, you set up a known port in your /etc/services file which both machines know. Usually 1525 or 1526 is the default. (I forget, I ran out of RAM ;-) You should read your documentation on network access to Informix. BTW, for your 5.0 Online, you need to have (I-Star?? or is it I-Net) Like I said, I forget since 7.X has it bundled in. -Just a tip from your Uncle Mike, with Alzhimers. ;-) Mmcco99 wrote: > > We are running both 5.0 and 7.2 on AIX and Solaris machines at our site. > Security is > a concern, so Kerberos security software is installed on each machine. > This means > that rsh is turned off, so we don't have the ability to have databases on > different > machines 'talk' to each other.
