ODBC Connectivity from 64-Bit Windows XP to IDS 7.31

Greetings, I am looking for Informix ODBC drivers that will allow connectivity between 64 bit Windows XP and IDS 7.31. I am unable to see the 32 bit drivers from the configuration tool after installation of Client SDK 2.90.TC3. I have had no luck finding this information on the IBM site. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks in advance,
What can I say is that 64-bits Windows platforms are not supported yet by the Informix clients (both SDK and Connect). I also found this problem, Informix support said to me that the supported client will release in the 2007. Hope this will help you

Any guidance is appreciated. You can use a 32-bit Client SDK on 64-bit Windows. I don't know whether it is supported - I doubt it. It's not without issues though: one problem you might have is that the set up screen for the Informix OLE DB provider (I know you asked about ODBC) does not work. You can, however, set up a text file called whatever.udl with the OLE DB string in it containing something like: [oledb] ; Everything after this line is an OLE DB initstring Provider=Ifxoledbc;Password=????;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=????;Data Source=database@ol_servername Obviously you'll need to change the question marks and server name. As I recall (I don't have a 64-bit Windows installation any more, too many things didn't work), ODBC set up through Control Panel was OK using the "IBM Informix ODBC Driver" supplied with CSDK 2.90.TC3 but if I'm wrong about that you'll need to hack around in the registry, perhaps creating your own section. Perhaps copy working settings from a 32-bit machine but beware that the registry location may be different on a 64-bit machine. Ben.

Any guidance is appreciated. To add to my previous post, most problems with Win XP 64-bit fall into three categories: 1. All hardware drivers must be 64-bit. This includes virtual devices used by things like VPN software. 2. You can't run any 16-bit software. 3. The Windows registry has a slightly different structure. I suspect your problem is probably related to the third point. Ben.
You have to use C:\\WINDOWS\\SysWOW64\\odbcad32.exe Before you can see the drivers. I have not been able to establish a connection, however. -----Original Message----- From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Ben Thompson Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2006 6:24 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: ODBC Connectivity from 64-Bit Windows XP to IDS 7.31 the_omegamon@yahoo.com wrote: > Greetings, > > I am looking for Informix ODBC drivers that will > allow connectivity between 64 bit Windows XP and > IDS 7.31.
