Only $100 million USD ( approx ) in revenue for Informix for last year. IBM is milking the cow before either sending it out to pasture or the slaughter house. Not exactly chump change, but small in terms of what is happening with other vendors. Still enough to take the money, but not enough to shape the market. Informix will shape its own market and contribute to DB2, but not much more. And let's not kid ourselves... many companies are waiting for this transition to be completed. Yes, you can bet that many companies are eagerly waiting for Informix to finally come to an end, and become great history in computing. Informix will eventually join that rarified air of other great technologies that contributed greatly to computing. It will be remembered as one of those great things that helped to make something else even better. There will be more mergers, acquisitions, evolutions, and we are all going to be better off for it. The billable, the billable... it just gets better every day... Look at ingres->postgres->streambase... everything evolves or dies.
