Blob and PHP4

Hi everyone: I'm now using PHP4 and Informix7.x to develop Web applications. Is it possible to write blob data to Informix database with PHP's ODBC way(odbc_xxxx)? The reason that I'm not using PHP's informix function to finish the job is because that I maybe change the Informix database to MS SQL server. I must keep my program more portable.
