Informix and Micro Focus Cobol/OLTP?

Does anyone out there have any experience in developing applications in Micro Focus Cobol for an Informix RDBMS? We are looking at porting a large application from an IBM minframe environment written in Cobol/CICS/VSAM, and trying to get it to run on a Unix box. Our options are: 1. Re do the whole thing in 4GL 2. Write it in MF-Cobol, thus salvaging a bit of the original code 3. As 2, but with a transaction monitor such as Tuxedo, Open OLTP or Micro Focus' own product The reason we're considering option 3. is the overhead associated with firing up Unix processes every time you start a new 4GL module - we'll have around 350 users on this system, and they want response times of <~2 seconds to switch to a new screen. So, if anyone has experience in developing in any of the weirder combinations of Cobol and an OLTP manager, and can help us evaluate what extra effort night be needed in developing screens, batch programs, etc, I'd be most grateful. Thanks in advance Adam. -- |=========================================================================| | Adam Broun "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly | | brouna@world.std.com What is essential is invisible to the eye" | |==========================================| Antoine de Saint-Exupery |
