We just began playing with I-NET 4.1 on a DOS 386 (by Gateway) within the last couple of weeks. We're using I-Star with Online (both 4.1) on the host (HP 9000/827). At first we were quite disappointed with the performance of ISQL. We had created a default form and noticed very slow "next" and "previous" through the records of the query. We later discovered that the protected mode version of ISQL (pisql instead of just isql) was much faster. As far as slow connect, I have noticed that it seems to vary for us depending on the overall network load, how the DBPATH variable is set at the PC (we have 3 or 4 engines on two different HPs) and probably other less identifiable factors. I did notice that setting up the DBPATH variable for all available engines seemed to slow down the connect time for us.
