Evaluating Delphi / Informix combination

Our company is a large retail chain in South Africa. We are currently redeveloping part of the IDMS Cobol legacy systems in CA-OpenROAD running against a CA-OpenIngres database, but are evaluating Delphi running against either Informix or Ingres - with Tuxedo as middleware. We have been told that Delphi is primarily suited to small client/server environments with less than 50 users, and would like to know if this is the case. We are hoping to get in touch with IT sites which have upwards of 1000 Delphi clients running against an Informix or Ingres database of 40GB or larger (it would be a bonus to hear from a site that has this sort of production environment and is using Tuxedo too).
