From Nausy: >When bcheck'ing a database for consistency I use the following command >line: > > bcheck -y *.dat | tee results > >Of course, the idea behind the tee file is to check for errors after the >bcheck command completes. However, when I check the resultant tee file for >the results I get a lot of 'ERROR: bad data record' messages. >In fact, this error message occurs for most of the tables. > >Curiously, he says scratching chin, if I perform a bcheck on a single >database table without tee'ing the results to a file there is no error >message returned. > I don't remember which version of informix I saw this in, but bcheck had a bug that caused it to display lots of erroneous "bad data records" when passed multiple data file name on the command line, like "*.dat" If you run bcheck on each table it works fine. This worked for me! (for bourne shell): for i in *.dat do bcheck $i done Alan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alan Goodman | Data Systems Support Senior Systems Analyst | A Client Technologies Company internet : alan@dssmktg.com | 1228 Shelly Ct.
