Hi all, I have a question a bout shared memory allocation. I know that we can specify the size of the virtual memory segment and the additional size allocated(SHMVIRSIZE in onconfig) BUT, how can we control the other segments classes (Resident sgments and Message queue segments) or it's up to informix to do that thanks for any information friends _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Hi, It is set by your kernelparameters. See your releasenotes for your machine in $INFORMIXDIR/release/en_us/0333/ONLINE* Alex samir BADAOUI wrote: > Hi all, > I have a question a bout shared memory allocation. > I know that we can specify the size of the virtual memory segment and the > additional size allocated(SHMVIRSIZE in onconfig) BUT, how can we control > the other segments classes (Resident sgments and Message queue segments) or > it's up to informix to do that > thanks for any information friends > _________________________________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. > > Share information about yourself, create your own public profile at > http://profiles.msn.com.
The size of resident segment depens on the onconfig parameters like BUFFERS, LOCKS & CONFIGSIZE (for XPS). Hence u cannot directly control the resident segment size but changing the above parameters will change the size requirements. U can find more details in Performance Guide at http://www.informix.com/answers Naresh samir BADAOUI wrote: > > Hi all, > I have a question a bout shared memory allocation. -- *===========================*=====================================* | | Informix Software Inc. | | | Informix Center, 10th Floor, | | Naresh Chainani | 315 SW Fifth Avenue, | | E-mail : | Portland, Oregon 97204, USA | | naresh@informix.com | Tel : (O) 1-503-525 7548 | | | (R) 1-503-439 6839 | | | Fax : (O) 1-503-721 2369 | *===========================*=====================================*
Resident size is affected by the BUFFERS parameter. Don't quote me on this one, but I believe the message queue size relates to the number of connections defined by the NETTYPE parameters. --Chuck On Mon, 06 Nov 2000 16:41:27 GMT, "samir BADAOUI" <samir_badaoui@hotmail.com> wrote: > >Hi all, >I have a question a bout shared memory allocation. >I know that we can specify the size of the virtual memory segment and the >additional size allocated(SHMVIRSIZE in onconfig) BUT, how can we control >the other segments classes (Resident sgments and Message queue segments) or >it's up to informix to do that >thanks for any information friends >_________________________________________________________________________ >Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. > >Share information about yourself, create your own public profile at >http://profiles.msn.com.
