cleaning up temp space
Posted in 2000
seeking a clue, or two....once again.... Our UNIX box decided to take a dump today, taking down the DB engine (7.30.UC8 On-Line) of course. When the box recovered, it brought the DB back up automatically. Yet, when we went to use TEMP tables (ASP/ODBC calls to the DB), we found that there were many problems. The tables were there, yet not visible. They were NOT there, when we went to delete them. We were forced to stop/restart the engine, which cleared things up nicely. Is there a easier way than this ? Can I clean this situation up, without dropping the DB again ? We are a 24/7 E-commerce site, and the very thought of being down for a few minutes does not sit well with the higher-ups. Many thanks..... Michael A. Devine Database Administrator American Blind & Wallpaper Factory miked@abwf.com (734)207-5906
