DBEXPORT hangs -Reply
Posted in 1997
This may or may not be related.
In the latest version of 7.14 and I presume also the
7.2 code string, enhancements were made to do
with stripping of comments from the system (I don't
know the full detail of this). An error was made in
doing this and as a result, in the 7.14 engine
anyway, dbexport would hang, on stored
procedures in our case, because they contained
single quotes.
dbschema -f procedurename also failed. Same
reason.
If your text fields contain single quotes it is remotely
possible you are striking a similar problem. I have
just recently taken delivery of the patch to 7.14
which fixes this problem and confirm that it works.
If it is the same problem a patch to 7.2 might
already be coded.

We are running an Online Dymnamic Server 7.20
on a Solaris 5.2 Sun
Ultra.
Since we filled some text-fields in a table (we don't
use a blobspace),
DBEXPORT hangs at this table and the CPU-use
of this task goes up to
100%.
Any ideas ?
