Re: Back-ups to Disk?
Posted in 1993
I received the forwarded message with this question so I am responding to the list. We have done the backups to disk and restored from them. To do this you need to create an empty file such as with touch. You then set your device to be the filename with the full path. I think I also had to do the local host as a remote host, but I am not sure on this. I was writing to an NFS mounted disk on a host that had a tape system. Now that I have my own tape drives, I don't backup this way anymore. } Do you know anyone who has tried this???? } ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- } } } This post is related to an earlier one about logical logs and named pipes. } I realize that Informix only supports archives and logical logs going to } tape (via tbtape on Rel. 5) at this time. However, I would like the archive } and logical logs to go to disk from which they can be backed up to tape via } the daily UNIX file system backups.
