hehehe, lemms throw some stats at you guys: Our systems host the data and apps for 3 companies (opps, sorry, 4) We run off of the same codebase since the business models are fairly similar. I have 80 users. We have 5 disks active on raid5 with a hotspare, one disk died within days of production going live on this system. The machine was still under warranty. We have more users (its now a year down the line), but the systems remain roughly the same. Its time to pay the maintenance fees for next year... 'NO'... 'what?' ... 'too expensive' 'what?' ... 'too expensive, move to T&M' 'upgrades, telephonic, all that stuff' 'too expensive' So, we have no upgrades (I need more disks and memory), no maintenance, just t&m I'm looking for another job brett Obnoxio The Clown wrote: > > From: Brett Geer <brett@brabys.co.za> > > > >Ok, for the cash strapped in all of us, failing RAID 5, assuming no > >RAID 10, your recommendation? > > Uh, how cash strapped would you be if you lost all your data and lost a day > (or two) recovering from backups? > > _________________________________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. > > Share information about yourself, create your own public profile at > http://profiles.msn.com. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Brett's sixth law of UNIX administration...
