You can read the definition of user as:
"User Definition: "User" means the maximum number of users at any one
instance in time.
A batch process or an individual is counted as one User. However, when
an individual
has multiple connections to a product, these connections
are counted as multiple users. When a multiplexing front end, such as a
transaction manager, is used to reduce the
number of direct connections to the Product, the number of front-end
connections are
counted as users, rather than the smaller number of back-end
connections. "
I do not know if this is the "official" Informix definition of user or
just a standard
definition that intraware has.
