Re: Cannot read system catalog (systables)

Hello Genti,
what logging mode is used???
select * from sysmaster:sysdatabases
where name = <yourdb>
i'll assume it's informix logging and not ansi..
if you do in your code:
begin work;
create view myview as select * from customer;..... do a lot of work and timeconsuming work
then you can cause a lock in the system catalog.
so if you need a view create it and make sure it's committed
eq
begin work;
create view myview as select * from customer;commit work;
begin work;
do a lot of work here.... (better to keep trx small!!)
> I am very new to Informix, how can I see the log file (we have RedHat ES 3.0)
on the cmd line:
onstat -m will display the last x lines; the filename is on top of the
output;you can just use vi to see it.
oncheck is a cmd line tool which is used to verify data;repair if
possible corruption;
view disk structs etc.
See you
Superboer.
