take long time to complete checkpoint

'online.log' shows me that it took about 77 seconds to complete a checkpoint. It is not like our other database engines, it only took about 3 or 5 second to complete the checkpoint. Can someone tell me how to lower the time for this? Increasing LRUS can help? We have Informix version 7.31.UC5. Thanks for your help. Thanh Ngo

There are a number of reasons why it took so long... what are the other checkpoints prior to this one like ?? are they slower ?? faster ?? I have found in the past that checkpoints can take ages, if the logical log record has completed and is waiting to be backed up, or if a user is in a critical section and is committing a transaction, or if a transaction is in rollback. If the rest of the chekpoints are taking 3-5 seconds, then I wouldn't worry. If they are always taking 70 seconds then you need to provide us with a few more details:- $ONCONFIG, onstat -p, onstat -m etc... Thanks for your response. It only happens when we do massive load data to tables.
